Mas de la Source Vermentino/Chardonnay, Languedoc France 2008
Super-clean and fresh on the nose, with delicate peach and citrus flavours on the palate, nice weight and a refreshingly dry crisp finish that just begs for another glass.
Naire Verdejo, Bodegas Monte la Reina, Toro Spain 2008
Verdejo is one of Spain’s top indigenous grapes, think Sauvignon but with added spice. Crisp and zesty with citrus, pear and tropical fruit flavours with a zesty finish… fruit salad in a glass.
Sauvignon Blanc, Domaine du Tariquet, Gascony France 2008
Tariquet are France’s largest privately-owned winery, producing a wide range of top-quality wines. This Sauvignon is crisp, fresh with delicate, ripe citrus fruit flavours, nice palate weight and a zingy finish.
Lantana Semillon/Chardonnay, South Australia Australia 2008
Anthony Murphy of Trentham Estate produces this blend of Semillon and Chardonnay which shows good balance between ripe citrus/peach flavours with a creamy texture and a zesty lemon-fresh finish.
Sauvignon Blanc, Vina Tamaya, Limari Valley Chile 2008
Not your average Chilean Sauvignon, this wine is produced in one of Chile’s coolest and most northerly regions, Limari.Green fruit flavour abounds….think apple, gooseberry with just a hint of tropical fruit. Zesty and crisp.
Verdicchio Classico, Santa Barbara, Marches Italy 2008
Verdicchio is central Italy’s quintessential crisp, dry white. This is fragrant, full on the palate with a beautiful fruit character and bitter-crisp finish so typical of the grape.
Picpoul de Pinet, Domaine de la Mirande, Languedoc France 2008
Now for something a little different, Picpoul is one of Southern France’s most interesting white grapes. Vibrant on the nose with punchy green fruit and ripe citrus, rich and almost honeyed on the palate with a sensationally zesty finish.
Prendo Pinot Grigio, Wilhelm Walch, Alto Adige Italy 2008
Forget about bland, insipid Pinot G, this is the real deal....fresh and fragrant on the nose with spicy, ripe pear aromas leading to a lush, mouth-filling palate with a crisp finish. One of the best you will taste.
West Cape Howe Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon, Great Southern Australia 08
Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon is the classic white blend of Bordeaux and Western Australia, producing wines which are aromatic and fresh while also having powerful palate weight. This is intensely fresh, mineral and long.
Mahi Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough (Organic) NZ 2008

The Roblin brothers are making quality Sancerre the way it should be. Powerfully aromatic on the nose with a rich, full-flavoured palate and that classic Sancerre stony-mineral character. Finish is long & elegant.

Domaine du Tariquet Syrah/Merlot Rosé, Gascony France 2008
Rosé with character, fruit in abundance (think crushed red summer berries) and body…need we say more?
Red Wines
Mas de la Source Grenache/Merlot, Languedoc France 2008
Nice fragrant nose with a soft, juicy palate with smooth red fruit flavours. This succulent southern French has no tough edges, just easy-going juicy fruit by the bucket-full. A crowd-pleaser.
Syrah/Merlot, Domaine de Mages, Gascony
France 2007
This chunky, savoury blend is full on flavour, with ripe black fruit and some coffee and spice aromas and a distinct “earthiness” so typical of Southwest French reds. The finish is dry with subtle tannin.
Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, Cantina Frentana, Abruzzo, Italy 2007
Very deep red, almost black in the glass with deep fruit flavours and aromas… think black cherry, plum and blackberry. The palate is medium-full, soft and round with a smooth, satisfying finish.
Lantana Shiraz/Cabernet, South Australia Australia 2008
Anthony Murphy of Trentham Estate produces this classic Aussie blend of Shiraz and Cabernet. Intense on the nose with blackcurrant, pepper and mint leaf aromas. The palate is full, spicy with lots of sweet, fruit flavours.
Carmenere, Vina Tamaya, Limari Valley Chile 2008
Carmenere is an old Bordeaux variety that Chile has made its own. Think Merlot, but with added interest. This has sweet, ripe fruit flavours, a touch of green pepper and a smooth, slick palate that finishes with fresh flourish. A charmer.
Merlot, Domaine la Croix Belle, Languedoc, France 2008
This winery are renowned for the quality of their “Vin de Pays” wines and this is no exception… medium in body, with a fresh, plummy nose, a smooth, soft palate and a long delicate finish. Proper Merlot.
Garnacha de Fuego, Bodegas Ateca, Calatayud Spain 2008
Recently cited by the Irish Times as a great value example of the best of modern Spanish winemaking. This is full-bodied, intense, with superb ripe red fruit flavours and a distinct pepperiness. The finish is powerful, yet fresh. A cracker.
Douro Tinto, Lavradores de Feitoria, Douro Valley, Portugal 2006
Produced in the Portuguese region of Douro, more commonly known for its Port wines, this wine belies the Douro’s reputation for big, monster reds. Instead, we have a fresh, easy-drinking style with soft red fruit characters.
West Cape Howe Shiraz, Great Southern, Australia 2007
When you think of Aussie Shiraz, you think of big, sweet and lots of oak. Well, this one is a little different. Think deeply fruity on the nose with peppery black fruit aromas, medium bodied, smooth in the mouth, with a fantastic savoury finish.
Morgon, Domaine de Robert, Beaujolais (Organic) France 2007
Produced from organically grown Gamay grapes, this Beaujolais is as Beaujolais should be. That is, light, fresh and very elegant with delicate strawberry and red fruit characters and a fresh, dry finish.
Givry 1er Cru “Grande Bergé”, Domaine Mouton, Burgundy, France 2006
This is a beautiful Pinot Noir from the south of Burgundy....very fragrant nose with a touch of spicy oak, medium to full in the mouth, with a delicious soft, smooth texture and a long elegant finish. Glorious wine.
