11 June 2014
The annual European Awards for innovation and leadership took place in Dublin’s City Hall on 11th June. Dignitaries from across Europe gathered for this prestigious event to celebrate and recognise outstanding innovative role models who through their work, inspire the next generation of innovators. Following a surprise speech from Kumardev Chatterjee, Founder and President of the European Young Innovators, the theme of the night turned into “don’t be afraid to jump”. And one man who certainly is not afraid to jump made a guest appearance via video link, Richard Branson, giving an inspiring speech. Upon arrival, the 150 guests were offered delicate canapés as an entrée while they mingled and conversed.
They then enjoyed a starter of garden salad with cured salmon with beetroot jelly and a pea puree, followed by a main course of fillet of Irish beef with roast white winter onion puree, ribbon vegetables, fondant potato, raspberry and red wine jus. With speakers from various industries, from science and technology to the economy and those working with teenagers, this event was one of a kind. By the time the closing address was given by Lord Mayor, the guests were enjoying their Cosmopolitan glasses of sweet summer berry Eton Mess.—
Having worked with Carlton Screen Advertsing for the past number of years when we were asked to cater for their rebranding launch we jumped at the opportunity. In an effort to target a younger market, the company was investing €2million into rebranding. And they weren’t wrong! Upon arrival guests were hit with images of the new ‘eye’ everywhere – and it looked fantastic. The old star burner in the fire (a sight that will bring many memories to thousands nationwide of old school trips to the cinema) had seen it’s day and was to be replaced with a modern blue ‘eye’.
The sales house theme for the morning breakfast event was “Wide Eye Media – Coming to your Senses. See it. Hear it. Feel it” which we fully incorporated into our menu. A full house of 200 guests enjoyed homemade granola shots with Greek style yoghurt, fresh fruit and fruit compote and for those with the sweet tooth, there was a selection of fresh homemade pastries to be enjoyed with fair trade tea and coffee. Following this delicious breakfast, guests were brought in for a special screening. Thanks WEM, a fantastic event!—
