Front Line Defenders is the International Foundation for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and they work to provide fast and effective action to help protect human rights defenders at risk, so they can continue their work as key agents of social change. Their annual Awards took place this March and The Right Catering Company were delighted to have been invited to cater for them once again. Actor and founder of J/P Haitian Relief Organisation Sean Penn presented the 2014 overall award to SAWERA, an NGO dedicated to empowering women and girls in Pakistan; an amazing woman, doing amazing work.
Guests enjoyed homemade granola with natural yoghurt and fruit compote followed by a warm breakfast of pork and apple sausage with roasted vine tomatoes and scrambled egg with chive and dill. The handmade pudding with a medley of black and white pudding with pear, parsley and smoked bacon lardons topped with cripsy prosciutto was the hit of the morning and the buttery pastries went down well with fair trade teas and coffees. Despite the challenges met by people and organisations like SAWERA every day, they continue to fight the good fight so that people world wide receive their basic human rights. Kudos.
